Just a quick update.  Dave finished his race (Vineman 70.3 — 1.2 mile swim in the Russian River, 56 miles of cycling through wine country, and 13.1 miles of running)!

This is the result:

(taken yesterday at Bella)

Actually he had a fun time overall — bonked a bit on the run apparently but still enjoyed the course.

We had a blast winetasting yesterday.

We started at Talty (delicious Zins), went to Zichichi (my favorite new find — the assistant winemaker Michael, described by multiple people as the hippie winemaker (in my opinion he was more surfer-dude-ish) was very sweet and helpful, and obviously very passionate about wine) and barrel-tasted a gorgeous Petit Syrah (as well as giving the tasting-room girl, who wants to learn to knit, info about Ravelry), then to Preston for a wide variety of certified organic wines and wonderful fresh-baked sourdough bread.

Talty

We had lunch at Dry Creek General Store, then more tasting at Amphora (the owner was a total sweetheart, as was his friend who helped us after he had to leave), and a couple nice Pinot Noirs at Papapietro (though the woman pouring was not necessarily unfriendly, per se, she was not as easy to talk to as other people in other tasting rooms).

We decided to head on over to Bella early, where we were meeting a woman (a fellow veterinarian I met on VIN, Veterinarian Information Network) and her family to have a wine tour and tasting (Dave and I are members at Bella).

Ross gave us a great tour.  And he’s made a mockumentary about the wine country — Corked, the Movie — which looks like a lot of fun.

Today we’re going biking and a little winetasting in Napa….
