La Lana is a must-see if you are in Taos. Hand-dyed, handspun and millspun wool, silk and mohair (and various blends), with primarily native plant dyes…..

Bayerische in Santa Fe
December 29th, 2008 · No Comments
First thing first, after I read the comment on the last post from Jo I smugly thought, “Hah! I’ve not broken a needle in a long time!”
Oh yes. I snapped one of my five US1/2.25mm that I brought — a Lantern Moon Rosewood — within an hour of reading that comment.
Bayerische is one [...]

I’ve decided to bring my Gathered Pullover (in hopes of actually finishing & wearing it) and the 2nd Bayerische sock.
Dave expressed a small amount of concern over the latter.
“Isn’t that the project you yelled at me about on the plane to Italy?”
Well, yes, it is, but there’s an explanation.
Our flight from JFK to Italy had [...]

A non-knitting Christmas gift
December 24th, 2008 · No Comments
I painted this for my friend Mel. It’s a watercolor portrait of her dog Brodie. She adopted him from Sheltie rescue a few years ago. He had a very large tumor on his right eyelid that she had removed. He’s a great dog, very mellow and sweet.
I’m taking a break from La Digitessa (as noted [...]

A small bit of four-letter knitting….
December 20th, 2008 · No Comments
I started La Digitessa.

Lady Eleanor is done!
December 20th, 2008 · No Comments
Which means, basically, I’m done with my major Christmas knitting, and may consider myself done with Christmas knitting overall (I could always do a few worsted weight fingerless mitts etc but those aren’t necessary).
Which means I can pick up the gathered pullover again, as well as start La Digitessa (the KAL is officially starting today).

My class is on! Top down raglan (pullover or cardi, pattern or from scratch), 4 class meetings, starting Jan 6 at Twist Yarns in Manhattan Beach! WOO HOO!
I’ve been putting a lot of time, research & thought into this baby.
Here’s the class blurb:
Do you want to knit a sweater but are overwhelmed with the thought [...]

Irish Moss Scarf Done!
December 13th, 2008 · No Comments
Finished this last week:
I’m still working on the endless Lady E. I’ve done one Aran Isle slipper in Pollen Malabrigo Merino Worsted (it’s now at Twist as a sample) and I’m almost done with the sole on the second (superfast knit BTW). I’m about ready to pick up the Gathered Pullover again and get the [...]

I’ve queued the following patterns, with the hope of doing a bit of gift knitting and stashbusting:

Aran Island Mittens
Aran Isle Slippers (very curious about these!)
Helene socks
Trenza Mitts
I am not allowed to start ANY of them ’til I finish Dave’s scarf.
