This weekend is very, very busy.

The nursery that has nearly all the plants we want to get (Las Pilitas) is in Santa Margarita, about a 4 hour one-way drive from our house. 8 hours of driving just seemed like more than we wanted to do in one day, so we decided to do an overnight trip and include some wine tasting. I found a B&B (the Santa Rita Inn) in Templeton, right near Paso Robles, that was fine with us staying one night.

We left yesterday as soon as Dave was done teaching (I hung out in the Palisades while he was in class, got a mani/pedi, finished my first Anniversary Sock, picked up stuff for lunch) and did the 5 to the 46 route (one of the most boring drives in the world) and managed to get to Dover Canyon for wine tasting about 4:30p. They recommended Four Vines as a good stop (and open til 6p), which we did do, and enjoyed.

This morning we’re heading down to the nursery (probably be a couple hour event) then on to Los Olivos, planning on visiting Zaca Mesa (with a picnic lunch planned) and Andrew Murray (we’re members of the wine clubs of both).

And oh yes, I’ll be casting on for the second Anniversary Sock. I’d kinda thought that after Helene I’d finish the first Anniversary sock, then do the second Curtis sock, but it was easier just to bring one project for this trip.

Pics to follow.

…oh, and the first unofficial informal faux 5k (as I described it, the distance is a real 5k, but no t-shirts, official chip timing, etc, just me, hubby, & Tina & maybe a few other people — I’m doing it as a time trial) is tomorrow morning, and tomorrow afternoon is the benefit at the Botanic Garden for the Wellness Community.
