Mid January 2011 WIPs and DIPs

DIPs:  Work progresses on the spring sweater for Sanguine Gryphon.  I wish I could show pics, but I can’t.  It’s due the end of this month, so it’s the focus right now.  After that, I’m planning on splitting time between the Ennea vest & Edie.  I also have an assortment of smaller projects to work on in between — the SHELTER mitts, a couple cowls, etc.

The business & design year plan is still a WIP.  Just curious:  how many of you out there who design have business plans?  and/or plan out your design efforts for the year?

I have a bunch of swatching & proposals to work on, too.  This ties in with the design year plan….

Madrona’s coming closer, and I have homework (11 swatches!) to knit for Jean Wong’s class.  Must admit that they may be plane knitting.

I have a business plan. I usually deal with any updates in the late fall tho, heading into a new year. I don’t do a whole year of design plans – too many and too many add-ons, but I try to get things mapped out quarterly, which seems to work okay for me. If I can only deal with the list. Which never happens. 😛

I don’t have a ‘business plan’, but I do set out goals for the year.
For example, this year, my (design) goals look something like this:
    * focus more on self-publishing, and take fewer commissioned designs
    * focus more on crochet designs over knitting designs
    * By December, sell x number of patterns per week
    * By May, redesign my website to have certain features and appearance
    * join and be active in a couple extra social networking sites.

    That’s sorta a plan, right? 🙂

    It’s a plan!

I’m still working on mine. I’ve written down general stuff, similar to your list, but am still working on specifics.

When you say sell x number of patterns….do you have a plan for attaining that, or is it a goal? I’m still working on figuring out best way to advertise, etc.
