Blue Lupine Mitts

Here they are! Using just one skein of SHELTER, shown in the Faded Quilt Colorway, these mitts will be a go-to project when you need something quick yet still special.  See the entire Spring Collection at www.knitcircus.com.

The cuff, featuring an Aran Lace stitch pattern from Annie Maloney’s Aran Lace stitch dictionary, is worked flat.  Use a special button for the cuff.

The stitches of the main body of the mitt are picked up along the edge.   The main body of the mitt knits up quickly in stockinette stitch.  The thumb is slightly offset for a more comfortable anatomically correct fit.  Gusset increases are paired (right & left) lifted increases.

I really wanted to try SHELTER.  When Jaala mentioned she’d met Jared & picked up a few skeins, I (quite shamelessly) begged for a skein proposed a one-skein project.

Blue Lupine Cuffs

The cuff on the top right is not blocked; the cuff on the bottom left has been soaked in Fibre Wash then dried.

It’s a really nice yarn to work with — I’d love to do a cardi with it.  It’s interesting how washing affects it.  The yarn blooms and softens.  The stitch definition is still good, but definitely softly blurred compared to pre-blocked.

If you’d like a chance to win a Spring Pattern Collection from Knitcircus, leave a comment on this post by midnight PST 8 Feb 2011.  I’ll draw 3 winners on Feb 9th.  If I’ve not heard from any of the winners by Feb 12th, I’ll draw new winner(s) at that time.
