Klahhane Switchbacks
Klahhane Switchbacks: cuff-down, worsted/aran weight socks, incorporating lace, twisted stitches and a few bobbles.

These cozy cuff-down, worsted weight socks were inspired by a gorgeous hike up the Klahhane Switchbacks in Olympic National Park.
You get to try a variety of techniques, including simple lace, bobbles and twisted stitches — you won’t get bored. You can knit the multicolored version as shown (great for using stash leftovers) or solid socks.
The pattern is charted.
Size: Women’s medium, to fit women’s US size 8. The sock can easily be made longer or shorter to accommodate a shorter or longer foot.
Needles:
- Worsted: US size 3 (3.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Worsted/ heavy worsted: US size 5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge:
- 26 sts and 36 rows in St st in the rnd =4” for light worsted.
- 20 st and 34 rows in St st in the rnd =4” for worsted/heavy worsted.
Notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle, cable needle if you do not cable without one.
Skills needed: knitting in the round, twisted stitches, bobbles, simple lace.
