I’ve been working on a scarf for my friend Jan with the blue Malabrigo I got at Wool & Co — it’s the Wavy scarf from Knitty.

It’s coming along okay except for when I got cocky and decided to ignore the suggestion to use a row counter, and just kept trying to refer back to the written pattern. I ended up frogging several inches.

Now I’m being cocky again — I’m still not using a row counter, AND I’m not even referring to the written pattern — just following how the stitches are supposed to go by knowing where I am in it. This is working MUCH better actually. It’s not like it’s ROCKET SCIENCE, the ribbing just undulates.

I also visited A Mano Yarn in Mar Vista. I really like this little shop — the owners/workers are very friendly and the shop has a nice selection of yarns — including Socks that Rock and Malabrigo. I bought two more skeins of Malabrigo (again, will I ever knit a scarf for myself??) in Sealing Wax red,

a skein of — get this — 100% Angora from Malabrigo in a pretty variegated lavender (how’s that for soft fuzzy lusciousness?)

and a skein of organic cotton and a skein of cotton chenille for face cloths (which I plan on pairing with homemade glycerin soaps as gifts).

Oh — here’s a pic of my new knitting tote!
