Is summer really over? It certainly doesn’t seem like it here. Regardless, Dave is officially back at work, with his first day of new students today (sigh — over 40 kids in all of his classes except AP Physics — he’ll have over 225 students between all his classes). I expect I’ll hit more traffic on the way to work, always seems to be that way.
Anyway, we have two semi-major (for us) house projects to try to get done in the next few months (not including the solar panels, the resubmitted permit for which is apparently still reviewed by the city): putting the pedestal sink in the bathroom and refacing the top kitchen cabinets with glass-paned doors then painting all the cabinets. These two projects, of course, have a myriad of sub-projects.
Pedestal sink:
- picking out tile for the untiled spot under the vanity
- ordering said tile
- laying it
- making sure the original fixtures work
- repairing or replacing those that don’t
- putting in a recessed (vintage or reproduction) medicine cabinet
- installing the actual sink
Kitchen cabinets:
- Ripping out the cabinet over the stove
- Finding and installing a new (working) hood
- Deciding if I want stained glass panels for the doors
- Designing and making said panels if I do
- finding ‘green’, non-outgassing wood for the new cabinet doors
- sanding all the old cabinets
- actually making the new cabinet doors
- priming & painting
- painting the molding around the floor, doorway, etc
