Mittens eBook!

Released last night!

The ebook includes a basic mitten pattern in both worsted and aran weight gauges, as well as instructions for working them as fingerless mitts.

Three different cuffs are also included: Ocotillo (in wide & narrow versions), Quercus, and Manzanita.

You can also purchase the patterns for Ocotillo (in wide & narrow versions), Quercus, and Manzanita separately if you prefer.

These patterns are extremely versatile and quick to knit. If you’re interested in trying Bavarian twisted stitches or Aran Lace, Manzanita or Quercus are great introductions to those types of stitch patterns. Ocotillo is simply elegant.

All allow you to have fun with your button choice as well, so if you have a button collection going (who doesn’t?), these are great to play with that way, too.

Hoping you have a happy New Year’s Eve and a wonderful 2011!

And what would it be like without a contest to start things off? Leave a comment on this post (including a way to contact you) regarding knitting resolutions (or goals) for 2011 by Wednesday Jan 5th midnight PST to win a pdf copy of the eBook.

Love following you on Twitter and seeing your beautiful work. Your ebook will be a great New Year treat.

  • Sheri December 31, 2010, 2:59 pm

Doh! I saw when the mittens were in testing and was all pouty because it was full already. Then I saw their release last night and pouted more because I can’t afford the patterns right now (in recovery from Christmas gift spending). So to see a contest for them really perked me up! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to possibly win the patterns — a great New Years surprise. =)

Nice job! I think this year’s knitting resolution is to try making socks for the first time, and I think I’d like to try them in at least three different yarn weights.

Wow. Those are some beautiful mitten cuffs. My knitting goal this year is to learn to knit fair isle without crying. It’s the only time I’ve come to actual tears from knitting.

Spinning Goal: make a more even fingering weight yarn (and then use it to knit something!)

Knitting Goal: Finish some felted slippers that were supposed to be a Christmas present for my mom but I had a baby before they were done; now they are in hibernation and I’d like to have them ready for her while the weather is still cold.

Beautiful mittens, I love how simple they are with the lovely cuffs for the added touch. My daughter wants me to make her some mittens, she doesn’t like the store bought once and your would be perfect.
My knitting goal for 2011 is to knit lots more socks, fill the wishes of my loved once (family and friends) and of strangers, use mainly my stash for it, knit a cabled winter sweater for myself and otherwise learn new techniques.
    Happy New Year!

As usual, I start every new year with the resolve to get ORGANIZED. Maybe this year it will happen since I now have a room devoted to my fiber obsession.
I just love the cuffs on these mittens!

  • oonagh rabenwald January 1, 2011, 7:20 am

my knitting resolution for this year is to do myself a sweater or two…..i’ve never knit a sweater, and i got a substantial GC for yarn for x-mas, so now is the time to start!!! i’m doing the math, and have the amounts for one planned out; gotta do a little more math, and order the amounts for teh other one…..
might do a sweatervest for my SO also. we’ve been together long enough to foil the sweater curse!

maybe i’ll also get to all those socks i have planned……..since honestly those sweaters are reasonably mindless knitting, once i get started.

  • InJuneau January 1, 2011, 1:38 pm

In 2011 my knitting goals include learning how to knit a sweater so I can finally make DH the sweater I’ve been promising him. I also hope to tackle knitting a shawl for me.

I have two goals…12 socks or six pair in 2011 and crochet a hat. I am taking a crochet class, after trying to learn on my own in 2010 without success. I can’t wait! Cool looking e-book. Thanks!

I have a serious case of startitis and at times nothing ever gets finished – though I do have many pretties in the making. My goal is to stay focused on just one project at a time (maybe 2!)

  • Julia January 3, 2011, 2:41 pm

    2011 Goals:
-learn to use my drop spindle hehe.

    Greetings from Germany!

  • Regina Martin January 3, 2011, 4:41 pm

the patterns are beautiful. I have never made mittens but I am excited to try.

  • Andrea, Cornelius, NC January 3, 2011, 5:04 pm

Oh, a mitten book sounds exciting —- and this year my resolution needs to be to actually knit myself a few pair of mittens (or fingerless) so that in the winter, when it does get cold in NC—-I won’t be caught short!

  • Diane January 3, 2011, 8:46 pm

Goals, same as always. Finish some projects and have fun!

  • Allison January 3, 2011, 9:16 pm

    Beautiful patterns!!

This year I want to make a hooded scarf for a friend who could use the extra protection from our cold New England winters! I also want to make something for myself with some yarn from my stash.

  • Estella January 4, 2011, 3:49 am

My goal is to knit new things I’ve never done before such as gloves or something with a zipper.

  • Robin January 4, 2011, 1:39 pm

This is excellent timing. I knit a bunch of fingerless mitts in the fall, and now my fingers are freezing! I just bought some buttons and have some stash yarn that’s been waiting for the perfect project. I’m just debating which ones to do… but I will decide by tonight!
Really hoping I can pick up stitches well… little nervous about that.

  • Jolene (JoboDesigns on Ravelry) January 4, 2011, 8:52 pm

As always… I want to get more organized and do a better job of taking care of myself this year… aka get more sleep and more exercise. Usually the resolution lasts only until mid spring, but I hope to be more persistant this year!

  • Christine (rudysmom on Ralvery) January 6, 2011, 1:17 pm

I plan to knit from my stash this year and start my Donegal Tweed sweater. I also plan to reorganize my knitting/spinning/sewing room so I can actually find things. It is such a mess as I have too much stash!!

  • Diane April 6, 2011, 6:07 am
